Steven Musser & Maureen Gilbert invite you to share with them the relaxing experience of spending time on the Mendocino Coast at the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek. Steven and Maureen met 8 years ago while working for the same software company. It had always been their dream to work together and live in a beautiful place. California had always been their emotional home. In 1998 they both worked in Kernville as white water rafting guides and in 1999 they were married in Big Sur. When the opportunity arose for them to both live and work on the Mendocino coast it was a dream come true. Steven and Maureen took the "long route" in getting to Mendocino, however, having lived and worked in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Chicago, France, Washington, D.C. and Amsterdam over the past 10 years. As Maureen said, "We have both had the fortune to see much of the world the past few years and are now looking forward to settling down and welcoming the world into our home." Steven adds, “We are also very excited about the fun and challenge of running our own business. We believe the Inn will be a wonderful outlet for our skills, interests and creative talents."
The Inn is definitely a family "run" business. 7 year old daughter Kayla has been coming to the office with Mom since she was 2 weeks old. They are hoping to have her taking reservations before long - in the meantime she loves to welcome kid guests to the Inn.
2 year old Max is the official bird, fish and donkey feeder as well as dog greeter at the Inn. He is always ready with dog treats in hand to say Hi to our four legged guests. If the guest reception area isn't very tidy - you can be sure Max was just around.
Steven and Maureen are also blessed with other "children": 20 year old Sam is off at college but visits us on holidays and our 2 sweet miniature donkeys named Monique and Heidi are already stealing the hearts of our guests with their sweet personalities. We hope you get to meet them soon!
