Hiking and Biking
While vacationing in Mendocino, take advantage of the national forests in the area and explore with a day of hiking and biking. Our Pacific coast setting is surrounded by California Redwood and Pine forests and make for the perfect Mendocino adventure.
The Inn at Schoolhouse Creek is the perfect home base for a hiking or biking adventure on the Mendocino Coast. Start your day with a nourishing breakfast at Circa ’62, and stop by the front desk for the best recommendations in trails before setting out for the day.
A few nearby favorites are the beach and trail at Big River. The old Big River fire road continues 6 miles and is surrounded with ferns, redwoods, and follows the path of the majestic Big River. This road is perfect for a family outing on foot or on bikes. Make sure to keep an eye on the river as you proceed to see the always playful river otter and seals basking in the sun.
Another great scenic hike is located just North of the Inn at Gordon Lane. This bluff hike takes adventurers to private beaches, down to amazing tide pools, and is a wonderful area to take a picnic and whale watch.
Stop by the desk and we can make recommendations for your group or family.
