Little River Whale Festival
March 14-15, 2015
The second weekend of March is Little River's turn to host the annual Mendocino Coast Whale Festival, after Mendocino and before Fort Bragg. Enjoy wine tastings, sea cave tours, and of course whale watching by land and sea. It's a mix of family-friendly activities that also celebrates these majestic creatures as they visit our part of the coast.

Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival

World's Largest Salmon BBQ

Thousands attend this annual barbeque each year, truly making it the worlds largest. Held on the first Saturday of July, the cookout will also feature music and special T-shirts. All proceeds are used to help salmon populations on the Northern California coast.

More Jazz on the Lawn

Back for its second year, More Jazz on the Lawn is yet another option for a fun 4th of July during your stay with the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek. Admission is free: just head to the Mendocino Art Center and spread out on their lawn for a day of music from the Swingin' Boonville Big Band from 1 to 4pm. Dancing, drinks and BBQ complete the celebration.

Mendocino Music Festival

From full orchestra performances to selections of blues, jazz, folk, world and pop, you can hear all kinds of music at the Mendocino Music Festival. Performances will be taking place all over town, making this festival a great opportunity to see more of Mendocino. Great Day in Elk

Visit Elk, CA at noon for a parade through the middle of town, followed by more activities at the Greenwood Community Center. Carnival-style food and entertainment will be in abundant supply. Elk is only a short drive away from Inn at Schoolhouse Creek, 13 miles down the California coast.

Paul Bunyan Days

Paul Bunyan Days has celebrated the legend of Paul and Babe the Blue Ox for over 75 years, but you don't have to be a lumberjack to join in the fun: everything from a classic car show to a horseshoe tournament, Old Fashion Dress Review and Ugly Dog Contest will be taking place. A Fort Bragg tradition, Paul Bunyan Days is free to attend and always happens over Labor Day weekend.

Mendocino Open Paint-Out

This open-air art festival will have you appreciating the beauty of the Mendocino Coast all over again as celebrity and amateur artists take to painting outdoors in competition for a cash prize.
